Dreux-Brézé is a family of the French nobility .

history

The Dreux family comes from Poitou and can be found there at the end of the 15th century. Thomas de Dreux (1644-1731) acquired the Seigneurie Brézé ( Maine-et-Loire ) in 1682 and was raised in 1685 to Marquis de Brézé. There was no connection with the noble Brézé family . Thomas II. De Dreux became Grand Master of Ceremonies of France.

Michel de Dreux-Brézé (1700–1754) was raised to lieutenant-général des armées du roi in 1744 , as was his son Joachim de Dreux-Brézé, 4th Marquis de Dreux-Brézé (1710–1781) in 1759. Grand Master of Ceremonies Henri-Edvard de Dreux-Brézé expanded the Renaissance part of the Brézé Castle. His son Pierre Simon (1811-1893) was Bishop of Moulins . Henri-Évrard de Dreux, Marquis de Dreux-Brézé (1766–1829) was Grand Master of Ceremonies of France until 1792 and again during the Restoration. Jean de Dreux-Brézé (* 1958) is the current head of the family.
