Drew Hayes (actually Lawrence Andrew Hayes; * July 20, 1969 in Bellingham , Washington ; † March 21, 2007 there ) was an American comic artist .

Life

Drew Hayes was best known for his first self-published comic series Poison Elves . The black and white comic tells the story of the psychopathic elf Lusiphur. Hayes mixed contemporary style elements in this dark fantasy saga designed for adults with a lot of black humor . In 1991 the first eight issues appeared under the series title I, Lusiphur , later renamed Poison Elves as Poison Elves: The Mulehide Years . The publisher Sirius-Entertainment took over the rights of the series in 1995 from the author. As a draftsman, however, Drew Hayes retained all artistic and creative freedom. In September 2004, the last episode he created appeared as the 79th episode of the series.

In the last years of his life, Drew Hayes increasingly struggled with health problems, but according to his publisher, his death came suddenly after pneumonia and heart problems.
