The Driekoningenkerk ( German  Dreikönigenkirche ) is the Evangelical Reformed parish church in Noordgouwe (municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland ) in the Dutch province of Zeeland . The church stands as a Dutch Rijksmonument under monument protection .

history

The church, which was consecrated to the Three Kings up until the Reformation , was built from 1462 directly next to the Carthusian monastery Sion of de Berg Sion , founded in 1434, as a single-nave church with a wooden barrel vault with a three-sided choir and two transept-like chapels with ribbed vaults. With the introduction of the Reformation, the Driekoningenkerk and above all the Charterhouse with the church consecrated to the Frisian missionary Jeroen were devastated. In 1577 stones from the demolition of the charterhouse were used to restore the parish church. In 1846 the southern chapel was laid down and the outside of the church was decorated with neo-Gothic decorations. During the flood disaster of 1953 , the sacred building was badly damaged. During the restoration work, the southern chapel was reconstructed and the external appearance was restored by reversing the changes made in 1846. Today the church belongs to the Reformed Streekgemeente within the Protestant Church in the Netherlands with three choirs .

organ

In the flood of 1953, the organ that had been installed in 1924 - it came from another church - was badly damaged. In 1972, the brothers built Van Vulpen a new organ in the restored organ from the second half of the 19th century, with a Manual along with pedal and six registers .
