Drostamt

A Drostamt was an administrative district in the time of the Ancien Régime , i.e. before 1789. At its head was a Drost or Landdrost.

In the 20th century, the Dutch areas that were not divided into municipalities and the annexed areas of Elten and Selfkant were called Drostamt (Dutch Drostambt ). Also at the head of the public corporation Südliche IJsselmeerpolder was a Landdrost until 1996.
