DrumHeads !! is a special interest magazine dealing with drums and percussion instruments . It has been published every two months since February 2005. Since the 02/2010 issue, Christian Wenzel, the former editor-in-chief and key developer of the German edition of this magazine, has been replaced by the previous member of the editorial team, Manuela Müller, as editor-in-chief. The former editor and deputy editor-in-chief Cord Radke has been the magazine's editor-in-chief since October 2013. As a special feature, four songs are transcribed for drummers in each edition. DrumHeads !! is the first and now only German-language drum magazine with a play- along CD.

Magazine scope

Each issue currently consists of around 98 pages. Each issue is accompanied by a CD with workshop audio files, grooves and licks from the interviewed drummers and playalong songs. The four playalong songs are available on the CD once as a version with drums and band and once with and without click and band. She notes the songs in the booklet. Since issue 6/2010 DrumHeads !! also original songs, mostly with vocals. At the request of readers, since issue 5/2012 the songs have been increasingly produced with vocals, originally they were instrumental. The songs are mostly up-to-date, some classics are also transcribed. In addition, letters to the editor are presented on a double page. There are also the following areas:

Playalong contest

The first playalong contest was held in April 2006 at the Frankfurt Music Fair. The winner of the contest was Tobias Schuhmann with Slipknots "Duality". Since then, the contest has been held at the Musikmesse until 2016. Drummers from Germany, Switzerland and Austria applied with their interpretation of a self-chosen song of the DrumHeads !! A jury made the preselection and invited three candidates for the final.

Others

In 2007, the editorial team published the first special edition in paperback format.
