Jamjamāl ( Arabic جمجمال, DMG Ǧamǧamāl , Kurdish چه‌مچه‌ماڵ Çemçemal ) is a city in the Kurdistan Autonomous Region in Iraq . It is located in the northeast of the country, in the As-Sulaimaniyya governorate, close to Iran . Jamjamāl is also the capital of the district of the same name, Jamjamāl. It is located halfway between the major cities of Kirkuk and Sulaimaniyya . There are no reliable current data on the population of Jamjamāl, but estimates put it at over 100,000 (as of 2012).
