Bellini duct carcinoma

The Bellini duct carcinoma is a very rare form of renal cell carcinoma that originates in the collecting ducts (in Latin tubulus renalis colligens , Ductus Bellini ).

Synonyms are: multiple duct carcinoma; Collector tube carcinoma; DBK; Bellini duct carcinoma

The name refers to the Italian anatomist and kidney physiologist Lorenzo Bellini .

distribution

This form accounts for about 1% of all renal cell carcinomas. To date, several hundred people have been reported to be affected, and the age at disease ranged from 13 to 38 years. The male sex is affected about twice as often.

Clinical manifestations

The clinical appearance and diagnosis corresponds to that described under renal cell carcinoma . This type of tumor is considered to be particularly aggressive.

Differential diagnostics

Urothelial carcinomas of the upper urinary tract and papillary renal cell carcinomas are to be distinguished.

The treatment is performed surgically .
