Duisburg Sports Aid

The Duisburger Sporthilfe had set itself the task of promoting talented and motivated athletes from Duisburg clubs in material and ideal terms.

This was done through grants made up of donations and membership fees, which are paid to clubs and individual athletes. The selection was made by a funding meeting, in which a decision was made on the applications submitted during the year.

The Duisburger Sporthilfe eV dissolved on December 31, 2016.

history

The Duisburger Sporthilfe eV was founded on November 8th, 1989 with 13 members at the time. Its first chairman was Helmut Wieczorek , a member of the Bundestag .

In October 1991, Mayor Clemens Fuhrmann took over the management of Duisburger Sporthilfe; the number of members had grown to over 30 at that time. He later became honorary chairman.

Olympic Club

In 1997 the Olympia Club was founded with the help of the IHK . With the help of well-known Duisburg companies and associations, this promotes individual athletes up to the next Olympic Games .
