At the German Indoor Championships in Dortmund in 2001, she suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, which forced her to take a longer break.
In 2005 Mulrain became German champion both indoors and outdoors with the relay of MTG Mannheim. In the individual she was third over 200 meters and would have been used in the German relay at the World Championships in Helsinki. Because several athletes were injured, the DLV canceled the relay. In 2007 she ended her sporting career.
After graduating from high school in Moers, Mulrain studied to become a teacher in Essen and Tübingen. In 2009 she started teaching sport and geography at the Konrad-Duden-Gymnasium in Wesel.
