Duke Regene Lee (born May 13, 1881 in Prince Henry County , Virginia , † April 1, 1959 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film actor .

Life

Lee starred in over ninety feature films between 1913 and 1946 . The vast majority of them were western films . His last roles include minor supporting roles in classics of the western genre, such as The Plainsmen ( Der Held der Prärie , 1936), as well as the films Stagecoach ( Ringo / Hell's Trip to Santa Fe ) directed by John Ford in 1939, as well as after a film break of over six years 1946 in My Darling Clementine ( Tombstone / Faustrecht der Prärie ). For the 1919 silent film drama The Pointing Finger by Edward Kull and Edward Morrissey, Lee acted as assistant director.

Duke R. Lee had four children, Beatrice, Duke Jr., John Gladstone and Virginia. Two of the four children were married to Edith Louise Lee.
