Dumas Lerena

Dumas Lerena (born April 10, 1930 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † January 16, 2009 ) was a Uruguayan actor and theater director.

Lerena graduated from the Escuela Municipal de Arte Dramático (EMAD) in 1953 . There he studied with Estela Medina, who also belonged to his senior year . During this time he was already working at independent theaters. These included the Teatro Libre and the Teatro Universal . However, he played most of his roles at the Comedia Nacional , whose ensemble he belonged to until 1991 after completing his training. In total, he has appeared on stage in around 80 plays as an actor. His last appearance dates back to 2008 when he was the theater teacher in Bertolt Brecht's Arturo Ui . From the 1970s he also worked as a director at the Comedia Nacional. He made his directorial debut in 1970 with Juan Carlos Legidos Historia de judios . In 1981 and 1988 he won the Premio Florencio , in 1996 he was nominated again.
