Dumotiez

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The brothers Louis-Joseph (* 1757) and Pierre-Francois Dumotiez founded a workshop for the manufacture of physical instruments in rue Jardinet in Paris in 1780 . They produced scales, air pumps, barometers, thermometers, etc. and thus gained an international reputation. In 1788 the Académie awarded them the title of Ingénieurs.

Friedrich Stromeyer noted in his diary in 1801: "Dumotiez, engineer en instruments de physique, Rue du Jardinet N.17 (pour l'appareil electrique)."

Her nephew Nicolas-Constant Pixii -Dumotiez (1776–1861) continued the company from 1815 in rue Fossés-Saint-Victor.
