Dun Ban is an atlantic roundhouse located on a small artificial island ( Crannóg ) in Loch Horneray on the Isle of Grimsay , an island in the Outer Hebrides . Dun Ban is west of Baymore on the "Grimsay Circular Road". It is listed as a Scheduled Monument .

The ruins are overgrown. The interior is not leveled, so very uneven. A partially submerged stone dam leads from the southern shore of the lake in a curved arc to the small island. The actual access to the dun is on the side of the island facing away from the land, where there is a gate with a small guard cell.

The excavation in the 19th century uncovered a round tower with four tholos-like cells. Their wall thicknesses vary between 2.7 and 3.5 m and are preserved up to a height of 1.8 to 2.1 m. It is unclear why the dun was abandoned, but traces of fire can be found in several places. There have been recent surveys of the site, including an underwater survey, the results of which have not yet been published.
