The Dunker is a Norwegian dog breed recognized by the FCI ( No. 203, Gr. 6, Sec. 1.2 ) .

Breed history

At the beginning of the 19th century, the Norwegian Wilhelm Dunker bred the Dunker named after him from the Russian harlequin hound and other hounds for hare hunting .

Origin and history

Medium-sized (up to 55 cm) hunting dog in the colors black or blue merle (spotted) with light fawn and white markings, warm brown and mostly black accepted. Dogs hair is straight, hard, thick and not too short. The ears are set medium high, made of fine leather and of medium width, narrowing towards the rounded end, flat and without folds. They hang and lie close to the head.
