Circulatory stimulants
The blood circulation-enhancing agents or corresponding drugs include a number of chemically different substances, which are also different both in their application ( perorally , externally) and in their effect. The term circulation-promoting agents is not without problems and actually too narrow.
Are used:
- vasoactive substances from the group of β-sympathomimetics
- vasoactive substances from the group of α-sympatholytics
- Nicotinic acid and its derivatives
For the treatment of cerebral and peripheral circulatory disorders:
The following are also used for sore muscles , lumbago , rheumatism and osteoarthritis :
- Rubbing alcohol (partly with camphor and menthol content )
- Mountain pine oil
- Spruce needle oils
- Capsaicin (patch with cayenne pepper extracts )
- Arnica preparations (ointments and oils)
- Ginkgo supplements
- Common horse chestnut (ointment)
