history

The church probably goes back to the 14th century. After a fire, the building was rebuilt between 1500 and 1511 under the direction of the builder of the Hagauer Bauhütte Lienhart Plutaur . In a document from 1544 it is referred to as the "gotzhaus of our dear women zw Mairhoff". The Gothic choir was consecrated in 1511. Between 1589 and 1590 the church burned down again. In 1664 she was raised to the position of vicariate . This made her more independent of Zell am Ziller and saved the believers the long way there. In 1740/41 the nave was torn down and replaced by a baroque building by the Hippach master builder Hans Holzmeister . The most important paintings from this period are the 14 pictures of the Way of the Cross, which Joseph Michael Schmutzer created around 1743. The high altar is a four-pillar altar by Veit Steiner , who also comes from Tyrol . The Madonna and Child was created around 1840 by Josef Arnold the Elder. Ä.

It was only raised to a parish church in 1858. In 1968 and 1969 the parish church was demolished and rebuilt as an octagonal central building according to plans by Clemens Holzmeister . From 2011 to 2012 another renovation took place.
