death

The scene of the accident: The Royal Gorge Bridge

After taking part in the Go Fast competition at the Royal Gorge Bridge, Weston jumped out of a plane near the bridge with Jeb Corliss . The plan was for Corliss to fly under the bridge and Weston over it. Both wore wingsuits for this purpose , which allow the jumper to glide in the air stream and control the flight path. Weston misjudged the distance, however, or winds were affecting his trajectory, and he hit the rear bridge railing at an estimated 190 km / h. His parachute opened and he landed on a rock in the valley under the bridge, but Weston was instantly dead when he hit the railing.
