Dyshawn Pierre (born November 17, 1993 in Whitby , Ontario ) is a Canadian basketball player . He is part of the squad of the Turkish club Fenerbahçe Istanbul .

Player career

Pierre was born in Whitby in the Canadian province of Ontario and played in his hometown for the Anderson Collegiate Vocational Institute school selection.

In 2012 he moved to the United States at the University of Dayton . In 2014, he reached the round of eight with the college team in the NCAA play- offs. Between 2012 and 2016 he played a total of 126 games for Dayton, averaging 11.3 points and 6.7 rebounds. Sexual assault allegations were made against Pierre in September 2015. He denied the allegations and the prosecution closed the investigation due to insufficient evidence.

After finishing his college career, Pierre played for the NBA club Indiana Pacers in the Orlando Summer League . At the beginning of September 2016, the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig from the Basketball Bundesliga announced their commitment. With an average of 7.9 rebounds per game, he was the best Bundesliga player in this category during the main round of the 2016/17 season and also scored 14.9 points per match.

After his strong first year as a professional, he left Germany for Italy and switched to Dinamo Basket Sassari for the 2017/18 season . In 2019 he won the European club competition FIBA Europe Cup with Sassari . The statistically best season of his time in Sassari was the 2019/20 season, when he scored an average of 13.8 points per match in Serie A and impressed as an accurate distance shooter. In the summer of 2020, Pierre moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul in Turkey .

National team

Pierre won bronze with the Canadian U17 national team at the 2010 World Cup and was team-mate of Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett during the tournament . At the U19 World Cup in 2011, he was the best thrower in the Canadian selection with a points average of 16.9.
