    • Dzūkisch , Dzukisch ( lit-sau ); ( Lithuanian : dzūkų tarmė ) or South Aukschtaitisch ( pietų aukštaičių tarmė ) is a southern sub-dialect ( vernacular ) in Aukschtaitic of the Lithuanian language , which is mainly spoken in the Dzūkija (Dainava) region, the southern part of Lithuania . In Dzūkish, the replacement of d, t by dz, c in certain positions is noticeable, e.g. B. Dzievas instead of Dievas ('God'). The Dzūken (Southern Aukštaites) speak Dzūkish. Dzūkish differs in many places, e.g. B., Alytus , Druskininkai , Šventdubrė , Lazdijai , Merkinė .
