history

In 1906, the AEG built the first power station in Lahr . In the same year, the city of Offenburg's own operation went online.

In 1922, the supply area of ​​the Lahr electricity company extended to the city limits of Offenburg. Negotiations between the two companies led to the takeover of the city of Offenburg's own operations. The name of the company was changed to "Elektrizitätswerk Mittelbaden Aktiengesellschaft".

In 1998, the supply area expanded with EnBW joining as a partner. This brought in the former "Regionalservice Kinzigtal".

New energies

From 2010 to 2012, three new hydropower plants with a total output of 1.34 MW were built along the Kinzig . In addition to the expansion of photovoltaics in the region, there are investments in off- and on-shore wind power plants.

In 2012, the “BürgerEnergiegenossenschaft E-Werk Mittelbaden eG” was founded in order to implement regional projects in renewable energies .
