Arcadis NV ( spelling Arcadis ) is an international provider of consulting, project management and engineering services in the areas of infrastructure, water, the environment and real estate. In 2015, the corporation employed around 27,000 people worldwide; the gross annual turnover was around 3.4 billion euros. The company's headquarters are in Amsterdam , the Netherlands. The company was involved in major projects such as the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, the Europaviertel in Frankfurt and the Emirates Stadium in London.
history
Arcadis was founded in 1888 as a company for the regression of wasteland, and services have been provided in developing countries since 1959. The company's expansion in Europe began in 1990. Through the merger with the listed company Geraghty & Miller (USA) in 1993, Heidemij, the name at that time, also became active in the securities markets, going on the Dutch stock exchange (Amsterdam Stock Exchange, now NYSE Euronext ) followed two years later. In 1997 the company was renamed from Heidemij to Arcadis . The name Arcadis is derived from Arcadien, which is described in Greek mythology as a place where people work and live in an idyllic nature and without social pressure. Through a series of takeovers of other architecture and engineering offices, most recently in 2014 from Hyder Consulting and Callison, Arcadis established itself as a large, international architectural and engineering office with 28,000 employees in 70 countries.

Arcadis Germany
The Arcadis Germany GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Arcadis NV and employs around 900 people at 16 locations. The head office is in Darmstadt . The engineering offices Trischler und Partner (1993), Asal Ingenieure (1993) and DGC (2006), the real estate consulting company Homola (2003) and the Society for Ecological Construction Technology (GFÖB) Berlin (2010) joined Arcadis Germany GmbH through mergers and acquisitions. and Hyder Consulting GmbH Germany (2014).
Corruption affair in the Berlin Brandenburg Airport project
In spring 2014, according to the time, the then chief technology officer of the major Berlin Brandenburg Airport project , Jochen Großmann, demanded up to 500,000 euros from the company for placing an order. The company did this then the Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH , Hartmut Mehdorn told. As a result, Großmann was released from his duties at the end of May 2014 and dismissed in early June 2014.
