The EDSAC ( short for E lectronic D elay S torage A utomatic C alculator ) was a British high-performance computers , which in 1949 was completed. The tube computer was developed by Maurice V. Wilkes and his team in Cambridge .

Some new concepts at that time were used in the computer, for example the Von Neumann architecture was implemented for the first time . It was also the world's first computer to use stored programs . The EDSAC was based on Neumann's computer EDVAC . There was a commercial version called LEO 1 (Lyons Electronic Office).

Probably the first computer game called OXO , a type of tic-tac-toe , was also played on it in 1952 .
