The Bremer Producer-Consumer-Genossenschaft eG ( EVG , also Bremer EVG or EVG Bremen for short ) is a cooperative association of producers and consumers for the purpose of direct marketing in Bremen . It is entered in the Bremen cooperative register.

history

The EVG Bremen originally emerged from a " self-sufficiency cooperative" founded in 1977 . Individual farmers in the surrounding area, for example from Zeven , specifically recruited self-sufficient groups. The Bremen group initially consisted of eight farmers and 30 consumers. In 1988, 20 consumers and producers joined together in a cooperative in order to promote controlled organic and small-scale agriculture through direct trade . In addition to farmers and gardeners, the producers also include bakers and butchers. In 1989 the first farmer's shop was opened in the Ostertor district . District stores followed in Obervieland , Schwachhausen and Lilienthal . The number of members rose to around 800 over the years and leveled off at around 600 in the period that followed.

Due to the generation change, the district stores had to close around 15 years later. The original shop and founding location Paulskloster was retained. In 2005, EVG installed a photovoltaic system and a solar collector on the roof of this shop, which has since been acquired as a house and property . The photovoltaic system was financed through private loans. a. also from the WeserStrom -Genossenschaft, which was being founded at the time .

Together with the Verein für Sozialökologie eV, information events on nutrition, organic farming and other topics are organized. The first nationwide change in diet at daycare centers and schools in a federal state goes back to the initiative of the Bremen EVG.

structure

The majority of the members of the cooperative are registered with their place of residence in Bremen. The members also include producers from the Lower Saxony region. The board initially consisted of two people and was later expanded to three people. The supervisory board was expanded from three to seven people. The board of directors and the supervisory board are active on a voluntary basis and have so far received neither remuneration nor allowance for expenses. A part-time employee is employed for the bookkeeping, the main work is done by the members of the cooperative themselves. The Bauernladen-Anzeiger is published for general information. In the first few years it was only printed as a paper version and has also been available on the Internet as a PDF file since February 2010.
