Earcatcher

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Earcatcher (German about: ears catcher ) is a sound element or a slogan that should attract the attention of the listener. The term used in advertising is based on the "eyecatcher" (German: Blickfang ).

The terms differ significantly, however, as the earcatcher focuses exclusively on the consumer's auditory perception . It is also often used as an introductory element in discussions and debates .

Ear catchers can be packaging elements such as bumpers , special sound effects or drop ins. On the other hand, the content-related message value of a (news) report or a spot can trigger a lot of interest and thus become an earcatcher.
