Earl Brewster

Earl Henry Brewster (* 1878 in Chagrin Falls , Ohio ; † 1957 ) was an American painter, writer and scholar. He was married to the painter Achsah Barlow Brewster.

Life

He graduated from the Cleveland School of Art and the New York School of Art . He lived with his wife for a long time in India, where he was interested in Buddhism and Vedanta . He published several papers on these topics.

Brewster and his wife counted among their circle of friends internationally many personalities of political and cultural life, including the Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the writer Walter Karig . He had a particularly close friendship with DH Lawrence .
