Earl Doherty

Earl Doherty (* 1941 ) is a Canadian historian and linguist. In 1999 he published the book The Jesus Puzzle , in which he denies the historical existence of Jesus of Nazareth and advocates the theory of a Jesus myth .

Life

Doherty holds degrees in Ancient History and Classical Languages. George Albert Wells was the inspiration for his work on the mythical character of Jesus . From his text analysis of the New Testament, Doherty concluded that Jesus never existed. Only the second generation of followers of Jesus put him in a historical setting.
