Earle Iceland is a small island in the group of the Danger Islands on the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 5 km southwest of Darwin Island and marks the southwestern end of the archipelago.
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the island on June 11, 1980. It is named after the painter Augustus Earle (1793-1838), who had participated in a survey of the HMS Beagle in the waters around South America in the 1830s .
