Earth's Future is a monthly, peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the American Geophysical Union since 2013 . It is an open access magazine, the articles of which are licensed under Creative Commons . The editor-in-chief is Ben van der Pluijm.
The journal is transdisciplinary and publishes original research , reviews and comments on the state of planet earth , its inhabitants and their common future. The focus is on the earth as a networked system in the age of the human-dominated Anthropocene .
The impact factor in 2016 was 4.938, the five-year impact factor was 5.761. In the two-year Impact Factor, the journal was ranked 21st out of 229 scientific journals in the " Environmental Sciences " category , 7th out of 188 journals in the "Multidisciplinary Geosciences " category and 5th out of 85 journals in the " Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences " category .
