Luise Christiane von Birkenfeld-Gelnhausen (born August 17, 1748 in Gelnhausen , † January 31, 1829 in Gera ) was a Countess Palatine and Princess in Bavaria and wife of Heinrich XXX. , the last count of the House of Reuss in Gera .

Life

Luise Christiane was the eldest daughter of Count Palatine Johann von Birkenfeld-Gelnhausen (1698–1780) and the Rhine Countess Sophia Charlotte von Salm- Dhaun (1719–1770) and the sister of Wilhelm , Duke in Bavaria.

She received her upbringing in her early youth at the Fürstenhof in Gelnhausen. At the age of 25, she married Count Heinrich XXX on October 28, 1773 at Hungen Castle . Reuss zu Gera (1727–1802) and from then on lived in the royal seat of Gera . After the death of her husband in 1802 she used the palace and park in Tinz near Gera as a widow's residence. In addition, the Palais on Johannisplatz in Gera is named as her place of residence.

Luise Christiane died childless on January 31, 1829 in Gera and was buried on February 4, 1829 in the middle crypt of the Gera Salvatorkirche . A plaque commemorates the “noble benefactor”, as Luise Christiane supported and financed charitable and social projects in the city of Gera. Among other things, she donated the clock to the church in Gera-Tinz.
