East Acton is an above-ground London Underground station in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 2 on Erconwald Street and is served by Central Line trains. In 2013, 3.88 million passengers used the station.

The station opened on August 3, 1920, when the Central London Railway (CLR, predecessor of the Central Line) extended the route from Wood Lane west to Ealing Broadway . The line was created with the participation of the Great Western Railway (GWR) and also known as the Ealing & Shepherd's Bush Railway . There were connections to the West London Line at Shepherd's Bush, the former GWR main line to Birmingham near North Acton and the main line to Bristol at Ealing Broadway . Since the CLR only handled passenger traffic, the GWR put parallel freight tracks into operation, which were shut down again in 1964. The tracks of the freight railway are now overgrown.
