North Acton Underground Station
North Acton is an overground station of the London Underground in the London Borough of Ealing . It is on the border of the Travelcard tariff zones 2 and 3 on Victoria Road. In 2013, 5.47 million passengers used the station served by the Central Line .
About six hundred meters to the west, the Central Line branches into two branches to Ealing Broadway and West Ruislip . The station has a central platform and a side platform on the north side. Major companies such as The Carphone Warehouse Group and NEC have set up shop nearby, which is why the rush for a station outside the center is relatively high.
The Great Western Railway (GWR) and the Great Central Railway opened the jointly built New North Main Line (NNML) in 1903 , and the North Acton stop followed the following year. In 1917, the GWR opened a branch line for freight traffic between North Acton and Ealing Broadway . From August 3, 1920, trains of the Central London Railway (predecessor of the Central Line) also used this branch line, but did not stop in North Acton until November 5, 1923. A pedestrian bridge connected the spatially separated parts of the station with one another. After the Central Line was extended to West Ruislip on June 30, 1947 , the GWR stopped operating its station on the NNML.
