Coordinates: 32 ° 2 ′ S , 115 ° 46 ′ E The Town of East Fremantle is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . East Fremantle is part of the metropolis of Perth , the capital of Western Australia. The area is 3 km² and has about 6,950 inhabitants.
East Fremantle is located south of the Swan River near its estuary eight miles southwest of Perth city center . The LGA only covers East Fremantle.

The East Fremantle Council has nine members, eight councilors are elected by the residents of the four wards (two each from Preston, Richmond, Plympton and Woodside Ward). The mayor (mayor) and council chairman is also elected by all residents of the town.
