The Eastern Kentucky University (also EKU is called) any State University in Richmond in the US state of Kentucky . The college was founded in 1874 and currently has 16,183 students enrolled. In addition to the main campus in Richmond, there are subsidiary locations in Corbin, Danville and Manchester. The university is particularly known for its research and teaching in the field of criminal justice.

The EKU sports teams are the Colonels . The college is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference .
