Timothy Lee Lester (born June 15, 1968 in Miami , Florida , USA ) is a former American football player. He played fullback with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL .

career

Lester played for the Eastern Kentucky Colonels of the Eastern Kentucky University football team in Richmond . In the 1992 NFL Draft he was committed in the 10th round in 255th place by the Los Angeles Rams . Lester was mainly used as a blocker and had the task of blocking the way through the opposing defense for his own running back . In 1993 the Rams engaged Jerome Bettis with whom he formed a well-established duo. 1995 Lester moved to the Steelers, followed a year later by Bettis. In 1995 the Steelers were able to move into the AFC Championship Game under their coach Bill Cowher and their quarterback Neil O'Donnell and win against the Indianapolis Colts at 20:16. The subsequent Super Bowl XXX was lost against the Dallas Cowboys with 27:17. 1996 followed Bettis Lester to the Steelers. With the help of Tim Lester, Bettis developed into one of the best running backs in the NFL. 1997 Bettis was able to increase his season best to 1665 yards . As Bettis was known for his powerful and direct running style, he was quickly nicknamed : The Bus , Lester as his pre-blocker was nicknamed: Busdriver . In 1999 Lester joined the Cowboys as a pre-blocker from Emmitt Smith and ended his career after eight years. Lester got two touchdowns himself during the regular season .

In 2004, Tim Lester was Assistant Coach for the Scottish Claymores in the NFLE .
