The Eastern Michigan Eagles (formerly the Eastern Michigan Hurons before 1991) are the sports teams of Eastern Michigan University . The 19 different sports teams participate in NCAA Division I as a member of the Mid-American Conference in the West Division. In 2013/2014, Eastern Michigan University received the Cartwright Award, an award given, among other things, for outstanding athletic performance by its teams.
