Ebenezer Emergency Fund
The Ebenezer Emergency Fund is an evangelical organization founded by Gustav Scheller in England in 1991, which, on the basis of biblical prophecy, sees its mission in giving Jews in the diaspora the opportunity to return to Israel .
It refers to biblical passages that are supposed to describe a return of the Jewish people to Israel after they were expelled into the diaspora.
In the twist
- “Therefore, behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, there will no longer be said, As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the sons of Israel up out of the land of Egypt! - but: As the LORD lives, who brought the sons of Israel up from the land of the north and from all the countries where he had driven them! And I will bring them back to their land which I gave to their fathers ” (Jeremiah 16, 14 f.)
Today it interprets the country of the north as the CIS and therefore initially concentrated its activities in these countries.
The Ebenezer Emergency Fund will usually cover the costs of emigration in full if necessary. In addition, various ship trips from Odessa , Ukraine to Haifa , Israel were organized until 2004 . Ebenezer has helped over 100,000 Jews to Israel so far.
The organization is financed almost exclusively by donations from all over the world. In addition, there are always a lot of volunteers and Ebenezer works with various Jewish organizations.
There are two organizations in Germany that pursue this goal:
- Ebenezer Aid Fund Germany eV, Hamburg, which was founded in 1994 by Gustav Scheller and has been working unchanged to this day, since 2008 without any connection to the international organization.
- Ebenezer Emergency Fund International (Germany) eV, which was founded in 2008.
