Eberhard Petersen (born May 20, 1955 in Bonn ) is a German administrative lawyer and was President of the Federal Central Tax Office until October 31, 2018 .

After studying law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and completing his legal clerkship at the Cologne Higher Regional Court , he first worked in the state tax administration in the area of ​​the Cologne Regional Finance Directorate. Since 1988 he has worked in the Federal Ministry of Finance, initially as a consultant and from 1993 as head of department in the tax department and in the management area of ​​the ministry.

In 2008 he was appointed Vice President and Head of the Cross-Sectional Department of the Federal Central Tax Office. From April 2011 to October 2018 he was Gabriele Hahn's successor as President of the Federal Central Tax Office.
