Ebrahim Gabriels

Sheikh Ebrahim Gabriels (born in Claremont , Cape Town , South Africa ), also spelled Ibrahim Gabriels , is a contemporary Islamic theologian , political activist and a personality of Islam in South Africa.

Life

Ebrahim Gabriels graduated from the Islamic University of Medina in Saudi Arabia . He received a Bachelor of Theology from the Faculty of Shariah .

Ebrahim Gabriels is Imam of the Rawbie Mosque ( Al-Masjidur Rawbie ) in Mitchell's Plain , a district of Cape Town in the South African province of Western Cape , and he was President of the South African ' Ulama ', the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) founded in 1994 . Sheikh Abdul Hamied Gabier was elected to succeed him. Ebrahim Gabriels was also President of the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC).

He was one of the signatories of the Amman Message ( Amman Message ). At a demonstration organized by the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) in the center of Cape Town against the caricature of Islam , Sheikh Ibrahim Gabriels, as MJC President, campaigned for it to be peaceful.
