Ebrahim Nabavi

Ebrahim Nabavi (* 1958 ) is an Iranian journalist , writer and well-known satirist .

In the late 1990s he began to publish parodies of official pronouncements in various Iranian magazines that quickly brought him into conflict with the regime. Sentenced to 18 months in prison at the end of 1998, his prison memoirs, which were published afterwards, helped him to gain further popularity.

He has lived in Belgium since July 2005 and writes for internet newspapers such as Rooz-Online and BBC Persian. In 2005 he was awarded the Prince Claus Prize .
