The Echelmeyerpark is a park in Saarbrücken . It is named after the pastor Alois Echelmeyer.

location

The park is located in the north of the St. Johann district . Kantstrasse runs to the east, Schumannstrasse to the south. In the north and west, the building complex of the technical-commercial vocational training center Saarbrücken borders the park.

Development

The church of St. Michael is on the southwest edge of the park . There is a playground in the center of the park. To the south of it there is a former listed cemetery chapel, popularly known as a temple due to its classicist construction with columns . There is also a war memorial on the site for those who fell in the Franco-German War and one for those who fell in the First World War . The park consists mainly of lawns with mature trees.

history

Echelmeyer Park was created in 1923 when the St. Michael Church was built on the site of the former cemetery on Rotenberg . The cemetery was shut down in the 1880s.
