Echobox is a private British start-up company that deals with the evaluation of media data and visualizes it on its website. The company was founded in 2013 by the Swiss Antoine Amann . With this new method, Echobox fills the social media channels of many large media companies, such as The Guardian , Le Monde , the New Scientist and, in Germany , ProSiebenSat.1 and Augsburger Allgemeine .

For the analysis of the real-time data of millions of internet users, Echobox calculates how many clicks articles get before an election for individual candidates or parties. To do this, the most important parties and their top candidates are taken into account. The Echobox barometer compares in real time how much interest news articles about the parties up for election are attracting on the Internet.

A major difference to conventional polls is that Echobox does not have to rely on the honesty of the respondents, as they do not know that their user behavior is currently being analyzed. Time and again, certain groups of voters had stayed out of polls or falsified them in the past . This is how Echobox was able to predict the success of French President Emmanuel Macron.

“Echobox was the best of the products we tested. It has become an integral part of our editorial team. "
