echophysics

echophysics is the name of a museum on the history of physics that is located in Pöllau Castle near Hartberg in Styria . The name is an acronym of " E uropean C enter for the H istory o f Physics " ( "European Center for History of Physics" )

The museum was inaugurated on May 29, 2010. The motto of the exhibition is "Radiation - the exposed person" . Historical instruments and experimental arrangements with which ionizing radiation was researched can be seen . Two focal points of the exhibition are historical devices from the Vienna Institute for Radium Research as well as the life and work of Victor Franz Hess , Nobel laureate in physics and discoverer of cosmic rays .

The operator is the association echophysics - European Center for the History of Physics. The association was founded in 2009 on the initiative of the physicist, scientist and writer Peter Maria Schuster (1939–2019) and is ideally supported by the Victor-Franz-Hess-Gesellschaft, also located in Pöllau Castle .
