Eckehart Ehrenberg

Eckehart Ehrenberg (* 1944 ) is a German graduate physicist , politician and chairman of his party, the Democratic Left (DL). Ehrenberg took part in the election for the House of Representatives in the constituency of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf 5 in Berlin in 2006 and achieved 0.6% of the votes. Professionally, Ehrenberg is the head of the Research Institute for Security Policy and International Development . In 2005, Ehrenberg became known to a wider public when he announced that his party would sue if the parties " Party of Democratic Socialism " (PDS) and " Labor & Social Justice - Die Wahlalternative " (WASG) were to go under the name Democratic Left - PDS merge. Ehrenberg was already active in politics before the DL was founded, in Friedrichshain he was a district councilor and spokesman for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) on building policy. In 1998, Ehrenberg left the SPD after 28 years of membership to join the Democratic Left List (DLL), a predecessor organization of the DL.
