The Eckington Cemetery is a cemetery in Eckington , Derbyshire , England . The cemetery serves as a burial place for Eckington itself as well as nearby villages such as Mosborough and Ridgeway. There are several Commonwealth War Graves Commission war graves in the cemetery .

history

The cemetery has been in use since the end of 1877; before that, burials took place in the cemetery of St. Peter and St. Pauls Church . The first burial was that of William Poole, son of Charles Poole of Mosborough. In the cemetery is the Chapel of Ease , which has been a Grade II building under British monument protection since 1989 .

In December 2008, Roman coins were discovered near the cemetery, indicating early Roman settlement in the area.
