The eco telfs is a vocational higher federal school center with a business school and business academy in the market town of Telfs in the Innsbruck-Land district in Tyrol . The name "eco" is made up of the initials of the three words "educational", "competence" and "organization".

history

The commercial school was founded on September 28, 1967 as a community school and was under the direction of director Josef Walter. The classrooms were in today's Josef Schweinester primary school in Telfs. Due to the rapidly increasing number of pupils and the associated lack of space, the new school building in Weißenbachgasse was moved into in 1975 together with the upper secondary school. The community school thus became a federal school. With the addition of a federal lower secondary school and the increasing space requirements of the HAK, the old school building became too small. After negotiations it was decided to demolish the old school building and replace it with a new building. It was therefore necessary to move to the alternative location on the Thöni company premises. After a two-year construction period according to the plans of the architect Thomas Klima, the new federal school center was opened.

Furnishing

As the only school in Tyrol, the eco telfs offers an advanced course, the training focus "Health and Social Management" and the seminar "Vital Coaching and Management". The technical equipment includes 140 workstations with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office software. In addition, video projectors are available for presentations in almost all classrooms. The school currently employs 42 teachers (2013).

Commercial subjects

The school began with the classic business subjects of “business studies”, “business arithmetic”, “correspondence” and “bookkeeping”. The subject "office technology" was also taught equipment at that time. With the establishment of the first "business management centers" in the following years and the installation of training firms, practical training was guaranteed. The subjects “Business Studies” and “Correspondence” became the subject “Business Administration”, “Commercial Arithmetic” and “ Bookkeeping ” were merged and are now taught under the name “ Accounting ”. The biggest changes were in the IT area . At the beginning of the 1980s, the first 10 computers were made available for the school . Today the school has seven IT halls and an open-plan office with 20 computer workstations. In this office, the students of the 4th class of business academy and the 3rd class of business school can put the theoretical knowledge they have acquired into practice in 3 practice firms. At the beginning of the 2010/11 school year, all classes were also equipped with projectors and internet access.

Commercial college

The commercial academy provides an integrated form of general education and higher commercial training, which can be used both for high-level professions in all branches of business and administration, and can also enable students to study at academies, technical colleges and universities after passing the matriculation and diploma examinations .

In the compulsory subject "Business exercises and project management" (commercial academy) and "Business exercises including project work" (commercial school) newly introduced by the 1994 curriculum, instruction is given in BWZ (business management centers). Based on the principle of "learning by doing", students in training firms not only get to know the work requirements of the various departments of a company, but also carry out business cases - from procurement to sales - just like in a real company.

There is the possibility of choosing a training focus in the business administration area, e.g. B. Social and Health Management, Multimedia, Marketing and International Business.

Training & opportunities

eco award

The "eco award" honors the outstanding achievements of the students of the eco telfs in two categories. The "innovation eco" is awarded to the best projects in the final classes of the commercial academy, commercial school and advanced course. The "social eco" is awarded for socially noteworthy projects.

The projects are nominated for the final round according to a selection process by an in-house jury based on the criteria of creativity, innovation, feasibility, indirect profitability for clients and value for the common good.

Those project groups whose work was taken into account in the preliminary round will face the judgment of a jury made up of representatives of the Telfer Wirtschaftstafel in the context of a project presentation.

The "eco" is a trophy that the partner company Thöni designs and produces. In addition to the award, the finalists receive prize money that is sponsored by the members of the Telfer Wirtschaftstafel.

SGA

The School Community Committee, or SGA for short, is a statutory body that, in accordance with the School Education Act, must be set up in all middle and higher schools in Austria. The aim of the SGA is a democratic decision-making process in which all three school partners (parents, teachers and students) are involved. In addition to the headmaster (director), the SGA includes three representatives each of the students, teachers and legal guardians. If not enough representatives are elected (e.g. only 2 parent representatives), the SGA must work with this reduced number of members.

The task of the SGA is to vote and decide on the following points

  • multi-day school events
  • the house rules (behavioral agreement)
  • the implementation (including setting of dates) of parenting days
  • Specifications that serve to help shape school life
  • the school-independent definition of opening and division numbers (e.g. class divisions in English)
  • School-autonomous school time regulations (e.g. start of school at 7.45 am - end of school accordingly earlier)
  • School-autonomous definition of ranking criteria (student admission)
  • Guidelines on the Reuse of School Books

Practice Firms

The practice firm is the model of a real company. With its help, operational procedures for learning processes are made transparent and the complexity of a real company is simplified. The practice firm as a place of learning is compulsory in the curriculum at all Austrian business schools and business academies. In the practice firm, all industry-specific business cases corresponding to practice, from procurement through the provision of services to sales. The associated commercial and administrative work must be carried out by the students taking into account commercial practices and legal requirements. However, goods and services and the money required to pay for them do not actually exist. The information and documents necessary for merchants are exchanged using future-oriented technologies. The pupils go through the various departments of a company and do specific work.

At the moment there are 3 practice firms at eco telfs, in which the students of the 4th grade of the commercial academy and the 3rd grade of the commercial school carry out the tasks of their departments for 4 hours a week. Two ÜFAs are available for the students of the commercial academy, on the one hand the Transport- und Informationscenter GmbH, short "TIC Tirol", and on the other hand "young.b", a training company that cooperates with the office supplier Bene as a partner company. The students at the commercial school simulate a real working day in their own practice firm called “Shelf Esteem”.
