Ecology and Society - A journal for integrative science for resilience and sustainability is an international specialist journal on ecological research. The journal sees itself as interdisciplinary and wants to take into account the enormous growth in research in many social-ecological disciplines. The journal is published and organized by the Stockholm Resilience Center at Stockholm University .

E&S publishes specialist articles that were written integratively and cover a wide range of sub-areas, including natural and social sciences as well as humanities. The main focus is on topics that address the relationship between society and natural foundations of life ( ecosystem services , life-supporting ecosystems).

A special feature of the journal is its open access principle : all content is freely accessible on the Internet in order to make all research findings accessible to a broad public and to promote the global exchange of knowledge. E&S is peer-reviewed and appears electronically on the Internet.
