Ed is a district with 21 residents in the municipality of Hilgertshausen-Tandern in the Upper Bavarian district of Dachau . Ed belonged to the independent municipality of Hilgertshausen and came to the newly formed municipality of Hilgertshausen-Tandern in 1978 when Hilgertshausen and Tandern merged.
The name of the hamlet Ed is derived from solitude . The place near the river Ilm is first mentioned in 1741 as "Einaid". Until the beginning of the 20th century it was called Oed.
There are seven farms in Ed, but no church or shops. Only one farm is still active part-time in the dairy industry. A property has been converted into a carpentry shop.
