history

The noble wooden seat in Murau was owned by the Murau family (Murheimer). They had their headquarters in Weilbach ( Sedelhof ), another associated Meierhof was in Murham near Mörschwang . For a time they also held the seat at Aurolzmünster . But this was sold to the Tannberger in 1375. Heinrich Murheim ( henricus de murheim ) is the first Murheimer to be named in a Reichersberg document from 1150. Other Murheimers appeared as witnesses in Mattsee documents 1344 (Christian) and 1363 (Chunrad). The Murheimers were ministerials from Passau . A Konrad Murheimer († 1401) was a carer at the Obernberg fortress in Passau. His successor was his son Christian who called himself the Murheimer in Murau († 1450). He was also Vogt zu Welt (1444) and Vogt zu Seysenburgkch (1446) near Pettenbach . Ulrich and Sigmund follow as sons, who are named several times as witnesses on documents. In 1487 Murau was owned by Wolfgang Murhaimer († around 1500). A Mattias Murhamer was abbot of Vornbach from 1513 to 1532 . In 1512 a Wolfgang Muerhamer appears on the Mueraw as the owner of the noble estate Murau. This was also court judge to Reichersberg (1525-1526). The grave slab of Wolfgang Murheimer († 1549) is on the outer wall of Utzenaich church. His son Wolfgang and his wife Magdalena took over the noble estate in Murau in 1549. Since their son died before their parents, the property went to a Hans Murhamer and his wife Maria Regina.

When Hans Murhamer died in 1588, his widow sold the noble residence to the Passau councilor and caretaker Count Veit Tädtenpeck; the Tattenbachs owned u. a. also Utzenaich and Sankt Martin . The last Murauer, Hans Wolf, lived in Plumau, Vienna . In 1605 all rights and justice from the noble seat of his own at Murau were transferred to Hans Ardolf Tattenbach. The Murau family can no longer be traced. The coat of arms of the Murheimers lives on in the coat of arms of today's municipality Andrichsfurt , who were temporarily under the rule of the Murheimers .

The noble seat itself was described as dilapidated as early as 1588. At that time it was no longer inhabited. It is believed to have been damaged by fire in the 17th or 18th century and then torn down. The old Hofmark Murau has since been administered from St. Martin.

Noble seat Murau today

The noble seat was in the place of the house Pfleger zu Murau (today Murau 1). In the past, there was a temporary water-bearing depression around the house. The former trenches were leveled in 1959 by the owners Karl and Maria Kreuzhuber and the area drained. The old nursing home was replaced by a new building in the seventies of the last century. Remnants of the wall of the noble residence are covered by the redesign of a pleasant garden.
