Edenstedt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Edenstedt is a desert near Seeburg in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz .

location

The place was on the road from Seeburg west of the first curve to Neehausen , where the path to Wormsleben branches off.

history

Presumably Edenstedt was a Germanic settlement from the 5th century. The place was first mentioned on December 26, 1288, Count Burchard von Mansfeld assigned the Hedersleben monastery, among other things, a hoof in Ezzenstete . In 1582 there was only one saddle farm in the village. Probably the place became desolate because of the selfish buying policy of the incumbent of Seeburg, he cut off the farmers from their fields higher up on the Mansfelder Platte . That is why most of the farmers have settled in Neehausen. In addition, the adjacent military road was deserted in favor of the trade route south of the Salziger See.

There were other documented mentions of Edenstedt at the beginning of the 11th century as Atinestad , 1400 as Etzenstede and the last time in 1609 in today's spelling Edenstedt.
