Edgar Brunner

Edgar Brunner (born July 13, 1943 in Roetgen / Eifel ) is a German statistician. From 1976 to 2009 he was a university professor and director of the medical statistics department at the Center for Computer Science, Statistics and Epidemiology at the University Medical Center Göttingen .

Life

Edgar Brunner attended the Einhard-Gymnasium in Aachen, where he passed the Abitur in 1963. He then completed a degree in mathematics at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen , graduating in 1969 with a diploma. At the same university he received his doctorate in mathematics in 1971. This was followed by his habilitation in medical statistics in 1973.

From 1976 to 2009 Brunner was university professor and director of the medical statistics department of the Center for Computer Science, Statistics and Epidemiology at the University Medical Center Göttingen. Since 1992 he has also had the right to examinations and doctorates in the mathematics department of the Georg-August University in Göttingen in the subjects of applied statistics and biometrics .

Edgar Brunner has been married to the German judoka Adelheid Brunner , née Grimm , since 1985 and has three daughters. Brunner is a judoka himself and was honored with the 6th Dan in 1998. He was an international referee for the IJF.
